#happyweekend #relax #creative

Need to get refreshed this weekend? We’ve all had those weeks where we’ve been busy, stressed-out, under-the-pump, completely frazzled, and maybe even feeling like we are losing our sanity! The weekend is coming, and all we want to do is curl up on the lounge with a good book … or curl up in a ball in a dark room! But we can’t get refreshed, because there is housework to do, kids to take to sport, baking to be done for that family event, groceries to buy and a lawn to mow! And in all that craziness, we are still thinking about the things that stressed us out at work on Tuesday, or the pile of work to go back to on Monday!

In all the demands and busy-ness, how can you get the refreshing and relaxation that your soul and mind desperately need?!

Here are 6 reasons why doing something creative will help you get refreshed this weekend!

We all need a place to belong, a place to be inspired, a place to feel like we’re not the only one, a place to thrive and grow, a place we can come home to everyday, a place to be reminded of why we’re doing what we’re doing, a place to connect.

My hope is that this will be your place to sit, maybe first thing in the day with a cup of tea before you start your creative wanderings, or maybe after a hard day of disciplined work, you’ll check in to see what’s been going on in the creative world. And as you read, you’ll be reminded that you’re not alone, that there are many others out there, like you, created to create and living out a creative Creator-glorifying life.

You might just find your tribe.

This is just the beginning, and who knows where it will lead, who knows what connections will be made as we collect as Creatives, who knows what inspiration is yet to come. My dream is to hear from many different Creatives from all different fields, read their inspirations, enjoy their art, listen to their challenges and battles, be empowered by their testimonies of overcoming, and to Collect together on the cutting edge of Creativity, where we should be, poised and ready in a time where souls are waiting and longing for something to speak louder than the humdrum rhythms and noisy stresses of everyday life.

There’s something about creativity that takes you to another place. Like floating on the ocean, waiting for a wave to catch, you forget about all earthly things and enjoy the peace and stillness of the sparkling warm sky above and the coolness of the saltwater that carries you. You feel the surge of the wave pulling you, and in a moment you choose: to dive under, letting the white water crash over you; or, to float above it, letting the surging water raise you up to the height of the wave; or, to turn towards shore and stretch your arms out in front, letting the wave carry you as far as it wills.

Everything else is forgotten. You feel the power of the ocean, its speed, and your own lightness, as you fly at the mercy of the wave, chilly saltwater pouring off you, you rise, exhilarated, from the ocean floor.

You squint towards the beach umbrella and towels. “Did you see that?!,” and raise your arms triumphantly.

Such is creativity, a force that you can’t ignore. So much larger than you, it’s a whisper that you hear as a roar. It’s something you feel in your spirit, that isn’t just for you.

You want to shout, “can you see that?!”, “can you feel that?!”, “do you know that?!”.

But they can’t, and they won’t … unless you ride the wave, unless you let it pick you up and hurl you towards the beach (not knowing where it will take you or how far), unless they see you rise triumphantly (with sand stuck in all the wrong places), and unless you beckon them in … to see, to feel, to know.
